Home is where the heart is

overtone_bmOne of the most important things for a guitar player is to feel one with the instrument. Each note you play sounds like the way it is meant to be, or even more beautiful. Harmonies that bring forward a wealth of overtones, which sound into the infinity. It is my passion to put forward the surprise element that lies hidden within the sound of the guitar.

As a musician, the ‘feel’ with your instrument is an important aspect. Proper ergonomics and a pleasant playability of the guitar add to the feeling of comfort and joy of playing. The hand-made guitars are adjusted to the wishes of the customer, as well as the color and finishing of the guitar. This makes each guitar in appearance, feel and sound, unique.

"Ticking all the Boxes"

The guitars are made from durable and exclusive materials. For my guitars I use domestic and exotic kind of woods  such as Pear, Maple, African zebrawood, Ovangkol and Rosewood. Roy Willems guitars only use top quality hardware such as Sperzel, Gotoh and Schaller tuners, Trem King bridges and Floyd Rose, Gotoh and Wilkinson tremolos.

A secret ingredient of the RW guitar sound lies within a clear vision about electronics. Together with Frans Swart, electrical engineering technician from ‘De Groef Audio’ in Groningen, we developed new method of wiring and in which we work with high quality potentiometers, capacitors and resistors. The result is a beautiful, open, clear and very direct tone. These electronics are included in every RW guitar and is truly a pleasure to play with. Modifying your own guitar with these electronics will give you an amazing improvement!

The combination of all these elements creates an unique sound and appearance of high quality.

"Unique & Distinctive Character"

Developing and creating your own sound and playability of your instrument is a beautiful and exciting process. The pickups, design and type of wood define the characteristics of the guitar. As a guitar maker I use my creativity to make something new, and still maintain the authentic character of the guitar. Check out my own unique developed design which offers a challenging guitar, with a distinctive character.
